Anemometer

The KRIWAN anemometer records the actual wind speed and transforms it contact-free into a linear output signal. The sensor is storm- and weather-proof. The evaluation takes place separately via a measuring device, a display instrument or in the connected control and monitoring technology.

Our KRIWAN standard wind sensors are ideal for monitoring wind speeds and wind directions under normal environmental conditions. KRIWAN has the right wind sensor for you: from simpler applications in the Eco-Line to more complex applications in the Business and Premium-Line.

ICEfight INT10 IF and INT30 IF wind sensors

For the use in extreme weather conditions, for example at high altitudes. The heater integrated into the cup star or vane enables trouble-free operation even in freezing rain.

Application

KRIWAN anemometers and wind vanes of the ICEfight series are used wherever, in addition to the demanding detection of wind speed or wind direction, trouble-free operation must be ensured even under the most difficult environmental conditions, especially where there is an extreme risk of icing at very low temperatures.

This requirement applies in particular:

  • For the monitoring of ski lifts and cable cars.
  • For wind power plants for energy optimization

Technical features

A heater with ample capacity, to which electrical power is fed contact-free and lossless from the fixed part of the sensor, is located inside the anemometer cup or the vane. Because this heater extends out to the extremity of the anemometer cup or vane, all parts of the anemometer cup or vane are heated with a high efficiency. At ambient temperatures at which icing can develop, the heater turns on and this nearly excludes any likelihood of icing at the hooked up heater within the approved ambient temperatures. The temperature of the heater is monitored, and the heater switches itself off autonomously at high surface temperatures.

Offshore wind sensors INT10 OF and INT30 OF

Special offshore wind sensors have been developed for the use on the open sea. The offshore anemometer and the offshore wind vane are characterized by a salt fog resistant special coating.

Heavy Duty Wind Sensors INT10 HD and INT30 HD

For particularly demanding environmental conditions with increased contamination potential. The specially sealed bearing enables use in dusty environments.

Application

KRIWAN anemometers and wind vanes of the Heavy Duty series are used to record the wind speed or wind direction under difficult environmental conditions. Trouble-free operation must be ensured even under the most difficult environmental conditions, especially where there is an extreme risk of icing at very low temperatures. Suitable for the use in dusty environments due to specially sealed bearings.

This requirement applies in particular: 

  • For the monitoring of ski lifts and cable cars
  • For wind power plants for energy optimization

Technical features

The KRIWAN anemometer of the Heavy Duty series is used wherever, in addition to the sophisticated detection, the KRIWAN anemometer detects the current wind speed and converts it into a linear output signal without contact. The sensor is storm and weatherproof. The evaluation is done separately via a measuring device, a display instrument, or in the connected control and monitoring system. Within the cup anemometer is a generous dimensioned heating, which is supplied without contact and mechanically lossless from the stationary sensor part with electrical energy. As this heater extends to the ends of the cup anemometer, all parts of the cup anemometer are heated highly efficiently. At ambient temperatures at which ice may form, switch on the heater, icing with connected heating and within the permitted ambient temperature is almost impossible. The heating is temperature-controlled and switches off automatically at too high surface temperatures.
