Studying at KRIWAN

Practical application of knowledge

At KRIWAN, we know: You do not become a specialist overnight. This applies to companies as well as employees.

Which is why we place emphasis on the promotion of qualified junior employees on to technical study programs. KRIWAN products are sophisticated – and we need employees who can meet these demands.

Cooperative study programmes

Cooperative study programs combine university education with on-the-job vocational training. By collaborating with KRIWAN and the Reinhold-Würth University in Künzelsau, participants complete both components in just under five years, earning a dual qualification. This means obtaining both a state-recognized vocational qualification (IHK certification) and a university degree, either a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.).

Graduates with this solid foundational education enjoy excellent career prospects, even in the long term. They typically find rewarding opportunities in fields such as research and development and technical sales.

The advantages:

  • The training period is shortened by more than one year compared to vocational training plus subsequent studies, without any loss of quality in the transfer of theoretical knowledge. This leads to a double qualification within a short time (< 5 years).
  • Regular remuneration over the entire training and study period
  • Theory and practice in combination
  • Technical cooperation with the university
  • Preliminary internships and practical semesters in the partner company
  • Already during your training and studies you will get to know the entire company as well as the future workplace and will be fully integrated after completing your training.
  • Attractive jobs
  • Eligibility for the Master's programme

Requirements:

Admission requirement for the cooperative study programme is the university or technical college entrance qualification

Degrees:

  • Electronics Technician for Devices and Systems/Bachelor of Science (B. sc.) Electrical Engineering
  • Industrial clerk or electronics technician for devices and systems/Bachelor of Engineering (B. eng.) Industrial Engineering and Management

Practice-Integrated Study Program

The practice-integrated study program combines theoretical studies with practical phases at a company. The theoretical phases take place at the Reinhold-Würth University in Künzelsau. Unlike traditional dual study programs, students do not complete vocational training at the company but focus entirely on their theoretical studies. The practical phases, which occur during semester breaks or practical semesters, complement the theoretical knowledge gained, allowing students to apply their academic learning to real-world projects. During lecture periods at the university, there is no regular transition to the company.

The program starts in October each year with a mandatory introductory internship lasting at least four weeks and spans 3.5 years. Upon completion, students earn an internationally recognized university degree: either a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.).

Graduates have diverse career opportunities, primarily in fields such as research and development and technical sales.

The advantages:

  • Students can directly apply their theoretical knowledge during their time in the company, facilitating a smoother transition into the workforce by gaining practical experience
  • Excellent career prospects and high chances of being retained by the company
  • Students receive compensation throughout the entire study period
  • Develop time management skills and independence
  • Attractive workplaces
  • Eligibility for master's degree programs

Requirements:

Admission to the practice-integrated study program requires a university entrance qualification or a technical college entrance qualification.

Degrees:

  • Electrical Engineering (Bachelor of Science).
  • Industrial Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering).

Dual study programmes

Dual study programs combine university studies with practical work experience at a company. Students alternate between theoretical phases at the university and practical phases at the company, allowing them to gain professional experience alongside their academic degree. These phases follow a regular cycle (typically three months each). Upon completing the program, students earn an internationally recognized university degree: either a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.).

The program starts in October each year with a mandatory introductory internship lasting at least four weeks and has a duration of three years. The studies are conducted in a dual system in collaboration with Mosbach Cooperative State University.

Graduates have diverse career opportunities, particularly in fields such as research and development and technical sales.

The advantages:

  • Students gain professional experience during their studies and acquire insights into the company and its various departments through the practical phases, making it easier to transition into the workforce.
  • Regular alternation between practice and theory enables direct application of learned knowledge.
  • Students receive a salary throughout the entire study period.
  • Along with technical knowledge, students develop social skills such as teamwork, communication, and self-organization.
  • Pre-internships and practical semesters are completed at the partner company.
  • Attractive workplaces.
  • Eligibility for master's degree programs.

Requirements:

Admission to the dual study program requires a university entrance qualification.

Degrees:

  • Electrical Engineering (Bachelor of Science).
  • Industrial Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering).

Electrical Engineering (Bachelor of Science)

In the foundational studies of the Electrical Engineering program, students are taught the mathematical and scientific principles as well as the general methodologies of electrical engineering. These form the basis for a deeper understanding of technical interrelationships and prepare students for advanced specialized fields. After successfully passing the assistant examination, students can continue their education in the Automation Technology specialization.

This specialization focuses on the conversion of physical quantities into electrical signals, signal processing, as well as control and regulation technology. Knowledge of computer science plays an important role in this area.

The program is characterized by a close integration of theory and practice—whether offered in a dual study model, as a cooperative program, or in a practice-integrated study format. Through collaboration with companies, students gain not only subject-specific knowledge but also valuable practical experience, frequently working on projects. Graduates are employed in areas such as research and development, technical sales, quality management, and product management.

''My electrical engineering degree was an exciting and instructive time that gave me far more than just theoretical knowledge. In addition to the opportunity to apply theory in practical projects such as the development of a 3D-printed, camera-controlled robotic arm, I was able to gain a deep understanding of the electrical engineering that surrounds us every day. Thanks to the future-oriented focus of the course, I feel well prepared for upcoming technological challenges and see a variety of fields of application in which I can use my acquired knowledge.''

''I was immediately impressed by the cooperative degree course in industrial engineering. The combination of practical training as an electronics technician and theoretical studies offers the ideal mix for me. Through my training, I was able to get to know company structures, create circuit diagrams and technical processes at an early stage. During my studies, I was then able to combine theoretical knowledge directly with practical experience - for example, how to plan projects efficiently or analyze and optimize costs. In this way, knowledge is imparted in a lively and practical way. A really varied path.''

''For me, the cooperative study model offers an ideal combination of vocational training in a company and a subsequent university degree. I was able to use and deepen the basics and insights into the processes of a company that I learned during my vocational training in many areas during my studies. During the semester breaks and the practical semester, the knowledge acquired is deepened and practically applied in the company. Individual interests and topics can be included and encouraged.''
